Villages Dermatologist Agrees To Pay More Than $1.7 Million To Settle False Claims Act Liability For Inflated Medicare Claims Orlando, FL – United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez announces today that Dr. Thi Thien Nguyen Tran and Village Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, L.L.C.

have agreed to pay the United States $1.744 million to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by submitting inflated claims to Medicare for wound repairs related to Mohs surgery.

Dr. Green and Ms. Kennedy sued under the qui tam, or whistleblower, provisions of the False Claims Act permitting a private citizen to sue on behalf of the United States for false claims and to share in the recovery.

The settlement resolves the United States’ claims in that case.
